The summer is rapidly proceeding as are the activities of the club. Throughout the last several months, Terry has been giving clinics on creating scenery. These clinics have gone from applying ground cover to painting the rail with a spray gun. Looking at the Montrose Island the work is clearly visible and well done. New control panels are being built to operate the yards and track on the island. Cars and engines that don’t operate correctly are being identified and placed on the RIP track for repair. These are slowly but surely being repaired and placed back in service. With all the work that has been going on, the existing track needs some attention as well. WE clean the track about a month ago, but a more thorough job is needed. This is especially important with operations coming shortly. Many have been working to rebuild the trains need for operations. Additionally, the correct types of cars are being placed in the yards where they are needed. The G scalers have been working diligently working on the outdoor layout and improving it and keeping it in good working condition. The G scalers are meeting at the club on Thursday mornings from 9:00 - 11:30, while it is still relatively cool out. Both groups are participating in Cross Orchards farmers’ market from 9:00 - 12:00 on the second and fourth Saturday of the month. July 13 and July 27 of this month. We need your help. This is a requirement from Cross Orchards if we are to continue to exist. There is a sign up sheet in the clubhouse for the different days. Please help out. Ashley Tangreen from the social committee has two things of interest to the club members. First is vests. We have had several new members and some of you may not have a vest. If you are interested in one, please reply with your size. Club members are asked to pay $25 of the price of the vests with the club LOGO monogrammed on them. The club is paying the rest. Second is layout tours. If you have a layout and would like to have club members come by for a visit. Please contact Ashley TangreenGrand Valley Model Railroad Club Social Committee970-640-1302.
