Now that spring is here, we are seeing more activity at the club. The nicer weather is making it far more enjoyable for the G scalers to work outside and to run their trains. In the clubhouse, Terry Berg has been giving clinics in doing scenery, from bulding mountains to, painting the rocks and mountains, to adding the ground cover and trees. Many individuals have been applying their skills to the Montrose Island. Additionally, tunnel portals and bridges are being built and installed. Jim Hall is training a group to do wiring. They have been working under the layout cleaning up the existing wiring eliminating loose dangling wires etc. They are designing and building control panels for the Montrose area. Mickey and Asher have been fixing and upgrading the N scale layout. We plan on having it completed before May 11th, when we will take it to the Grand Junction Train Depot where we will have it on display and running for National Train day. Others Have been cleaning track, rebuilding trains and placing the train cars back in their original and logical locations. Ashley has taken on the job of finding additional vests for members who don't have them. We will need to find out who wants one and what size. WE will order them and have the club emblem embroidered on them. There will be a cost (around $25.00 to you ) and the club will be subsidizing the additional cost. Brayden Tangreen is updating and correcting our brochure. So far this month we have had two school tours during the days and two additional tours are planned for Thursday April 25 and Friday April 26 for 10:00 – 11:30 (More help and volunteers are needed),The Boulder RR Club came to Grand Junction (via Amtrax) to visit the club. They were all electrical engineering students at CU. They had lots of questions. Some ran trains on the layout.I thank all of you for participating. As soon as we complete some more of the work, we will clean up and do some more operations. PS if you are interested in dispatching, talk to Michael. He needs some help.Mickey
