At our meting last month, we elected new officers. Mickey Nuttall - president, Mark Tauber - vice president, Michael Greedy - secretary, Jim Hall - Treasure, and Terry Berg - past president. I thank Stuart Fetveit for serving as our secretary last year. We officially set the dues for this upcoming year to be the same as they were last year (1/2 of the amount stated in our by-laws). DUES are now DUE! The turntable in Grand Junction no longer works so we ordered a new one. Operations have ceased for the time being and will resume after the Christmas show. We spent the last several weeks preparing for Fall Days on the Farm. The day was a great success with many visitors. Matt sends his thanks to everyone that participated! In the clubhouse, during the day, we identified several areas on the layout that needed some repair. Most of those have been corrected and the rest will follow. We had 4 groups of school kids come to Cross Orchards for a field trip. Both the G scale and the HO scale layouts were shown to the kids.Our 35th Annual Christmas Show will be December 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24 & 30 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Our annual Christmas party will be held at Edgewater Brewery, Monday Dec 11. It is located at Riverside Parkway and 9th Street, next to Las Colonias Park. We will have a social hour from 5:00 - 6:00 and then order from the menu. There will be a sign up sheet in the clubhouse on the whiteboard.NCE has finally come out with a new updated DCC system that is faster, has more memory and has additional functionality. The board of directors voted to order one of the new systems. We don’t have a delivery date as of yet. The next several weeks, we will be working on new scenery on the layout followed by a cleanup period for our Christmas show. Michael Nuttall made a great presentation to the public on the railroad in Grand Junction and the Depot. He will make the same presentation to the club. Additional information will follow.Both Bill Buvinger, a past president, and Alden Armstrong’s wife ,Linda. passed away this last month. We offer our sincerest condolences to their families.Our next business meeting will be Monday Nov 13 at 7:00 PM. The key topic will be the assignment of duties preparing for the Christmas show.
