Winter is slowly leaving us and spring is approaching fast. With the longer and warmer days, activity at the club is increasing. The G-scalers are working towards doing operations. In order to make this a successful adventure, some changes are being made. Changing some turnouts in the yard make it possible for all engines to access all tracks. Additional sidings are being put in place so that trains can pass each other. The acceptance of this years budget at the February business meeting have made these changes, and many others possible.A lot of activity has been seen in the clubhouse as well. Terry Berg and Tom Jones have been working every Thursday afternoon on the completion of the Montrose island. There are many areas that need work. Lets give Terry and Tom some help! Ask terry what needs to be done and what you can do. The whole Montrose Island is looking great and will continue to look better with the completion of each project. Some changes in the wiring of the clubhouse and layout are taking place. Jim Hall has put in a lot of time on these projects. Most are not visible to us, but rewiring the desk area is highly visible. The whole area is now powered by a single wall switch, and a new magnifier light has been installed. Michael Nuttall has been working hared in several areas. Setting up and running an operation session is one of these areas. A new computer running dual monitors is helping to simplify this task. At the passing of each week and the successful completion of an operating session, we all grow, learn and improve. It is fun! Michael has also taken on the duties of creating a newsletter. He is also operating and maintaining the clubs WEB page (GVMRC.ORG).Another new member, Rich Oprisko, was read into the record.Come on out to the club and join us in an operating session Thursday evening. If you can come a little earlier (6:30) it will make the sessions go better with less pressure on everyone!
